Studying and Living Overseas

1. Accommodation options

A. On-campus : living in a dorm, student residence or student village.

The benefits are: Saving on transportation cost, staying in an academically encouraging environment, getting easier access to campus facilities and being guaranteed 24 hour security.

B. Off-campus : such as homestay, renting apartment or house.

Homestay is highly recommended for young students or for those going overseas by themselves for the first time. Living in a homestay will help you make a faster and smoother adjustment. Shorter minimum stay will give you more flexibility to move to other accommodation you find more suitable. Living with a homestay family will also provide you with excellent opportunities to learn the local custom and improve your English.

Apartments or houses are more suitable for adult students since it will give you more freedom and the opportunity to learn to be independent.

2. Food
All countries represented by Edlink+ConneX are multicultural, making it very easy to find various food from different places in the world including from Indonesia.
To save on cost of living, you are encouraged to share accommodation and meals.

3. Climate and weather
In countries with 4 seasons such as United Kingdom, United States of America, Australia, and New Zealand, you will need extra preparation such as acquiring winter clothing and keeping yourself fit and healthy. Singapore and Malaysia have similar climate to Indonesia, thus it is easier to adjust.

4. Transportation
Public transport is usually quite reliable for its cleanliness, safety and punctuality.

5. Outdoor activities
Doing outdoor activities in your spare time to reduce stress becomes enjoyable due to relatively low pollution, well-planned landscape, friendly and safe environment. You can do some sports, walking or having barbeque with your friends.

6. Interesting events
There are many events, festivals, parades or even big sales going on. This will give you a unique experience of living abroad.
